Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Synapse, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part, do not use the service. These terms constitute a legal agreement between you (the user) and Synapse.

2. Description of Service

Synapse is an academic productivity application offering a Pomodoro timer, study habit tracking, daily task management, and streak logging. The service is available as a free tier (Free plan) and a paid tier (Pro plan).

Synapse is a personal support tool. It does not guarantee academic results and is not a substitute for advice from counselors or educational institutions.

3. Account Registration and Security

To use Synapse you must provide a valid email address and create a secure password, or authenticate with your Google account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. Synapse is not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account when access occurred due to negligence in protecting your credentials.

4. Acceptable Use

By using Synapse you agree not to:

• Attempt to access another user's data.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
• Use automated scripts to overload the servers.
• Create fake accounts to circumvent Free plan limits.
• Share illegal, harmful, or third-party rights-infringing content.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these rules.

5. Pro Plan, Payments, and Cancellation

The Pro plan is priced at $4.99 USD/month. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize the recurring monthly charge until you cancel.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal inside the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no prorated refunds are issued.

Synapse may change its pricing with at least 30 days' notice. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel before it takes effect.

6. Intellectual Property

All elements of Synapse — code, design, brand, logos, and text — are the property of Synapse. No rights are granted over these elements beyond personal, non-commercial use of the app.

Content you enter into the app (tasks, habit names, notes) is yours. Synapse stores it solely to provide the service.

7. Service Availability

We strive to keep Synapse continuously available, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We will not be liable for damages caused by such interruptions.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Synapse is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the service. Total liability will not exceed the amount paid in the last 12 months.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when necessary. If changes are substantial, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days in advance. Continued use of the service implies acceptance of the new terms.
